Library Summer Reading Challenge Volunteers

Library Summer Reading Challenge VolunteersUK libraries are calling for Summer Reading Challenge volunteers. This Summer’s challenge for 4-11 year-olds encourages children to read six or more books of their choice during the summer holidays.

The scheme needs volunteers to sign up and explain to families and children how to take part in the challenge. They should talk to children about what they like to read and the books they might choose. Throughout the challenge, the volunteers hand out stickers and incentives and award medals and certificates when the challenge has been completed.

The benefits of the challenge to children are obvious in broadening their reading choices and experience. The volunteers get to add some community engagement and communications skills to their CV’s.

There is an application and vetting process for Summer Reading Challenge volunteers to go through. Contact your local library to find out more.
