The Self publishing Show 2026 delivered another indie author treasure trove. This year the iconic County Hall building on London’s South Bank, refitted as a top-of-the-line conference venue, hosted the event.Â
Panoramic views of Westminster Bridge, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, and River Thames don’t come much better than this.
Day One
Day one’s single track gathered all the attendees in the main room. Hollywood screenwriter, Tom Donnelly opened the show with his high energy sprint from SAG-AFRA shutdown to novel-writing re-boot. Returning speaker Damon Courtney of BookFunnel taught us the Taylor Swift model of superfandom. Becca Syme took apart self-publishing myths and taught us to work from our strengths. Finally, SPS alumni Benedict Brown closed Day 1 with a personal story how NOT to become an indie author success but managed it anyway.
Grey skies didn’t dampen the mood aboard the SPS Thames river cruise in the evening.
Day Two
In another change to the format, Workshop Day Two featured twenty-four sessions across six rooms. Returning favourites included Sasha Black, Alex Newton, Hayley Milliman, Ricardo Fayet, Jo Solari and more. Topics covered direct selling, market analysis, AI editing, Amazon Ads, and the author business. The SPS digital ticket includes video recordings of all sessions including those for which I aim to take copious notes later.
As always, the frequent breaks allowed for extensive networking and reunions with old friends. SPS has a lively community that brings authors back year after year.
